Event Update

We have been completely overwhelmed by the outpouring of support, we can’t quite express our gratitude to you all. Friends, past clients, business acquaintances and strangers alike, we are grateful to you all for all your contributions.

Many of you have been in touch with us asking how you can get involved in the challenges Adrian has set us & what you can do to help.

So on April 20th we are going to attempt with your help to circumnavigate the island and simultaneously put walkers on the top the highest peak in all 32 counties.

The hillwalking is the easy part according to our chief walking challenge officer, Ciarán Farrell. The more the merrier apparently, there’s no limit to the size of the teams that can stick on their boots and take to the hills, so if you want to get involved, get in touch. The sea, now that’s a different kettle of fish.

The reality is we have to limit the number of paddlers involved in the circumnavigation, safety is our top priority. We have assembled a fantastic team of team leaders strategically positioned around the entire coastline of Ireland. These leaders in turn have assembled small groups of paddlers who are going to execute the challenge for us.

In small groups all around our coastline these paddlers will attempt to put to sea on Saturday 20th April to help us paddle the entire coastline. Each leader will make the call locally to put to sea allowing for conditions in their area.

The reality is we might not get it done on the 20th, that’s the nature of it. We get that, we are prepared for that. With that in mind if the weather permits on the 21st or on the following weekend of the 27th/28th April we will attempt with your support to get all sections covered so we can join the dots right round the coastline.

We will be sharing the entire event with you live over the course of the challenge, both on the water and in the hills with the help of GPS trackers being carried by all the groups.

Many of you want to get involved in the paddling, so we put it to you to do DIY on the 20th April! What we mean by that is locally, in your own club, in your own peer group, on your local lake, bit of coastline, on your local canal, pond, river stream, go for a paddle, clock up a few miles. Like and share the go fund me link with your friends and family tell them what you’re doing, why you’re doing it. The more the merrier, share your photos, videos whatever by tagging us on FB or Insta and we’ll share it with everyone our end.

On Saturday 20th, in Adrian’s home town of Moville, to coincide with the efforts on the hills and the water around the country, we are planning on taking to the water ourselves with Adrian to clock up a few miles of this challenge. We will be launching at 3pm in a location weather dependant and paddling to Inish Adventures on the shore front. Please come along and join us if you want.

For now, that’s it. Thanks again for your support from the family & friends of AH.
